Surprisingly, this season’s forecast calls for a slightly below the 30-year average of named storms and hurricanes.
As seen in the graph above, the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season forecast released from Colorado State University states that a total of 11 named storms, four hurricanes, and two major hurricanes are expected this season, according to the forecast prepared by the Tropical Meteorology Project (headed by Dr. Phil Klotzbach).
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. However, occasionally we can see storms form outside those months. Remember to be prepared for hurricane season, it just takes one hurricane or storm striking Florida to make it an active season!
